Double win for Óscar Alzate and Sofía Gómez at Tennis

-English-On Sunday April 3rd the 2nd graders Óscar Álzate and Sofía Gómez had a triumphant performance at the “Festival Infantil 2022 Club Cañasgordas”. Óscar got 1st place in singles and in doubles with his partner Daniel Villegas whilst Sofía won 3rd place in singles and 1st place in doubles with her partner Luciana Jaramillo. Óscar and Sofía told us how they dealt with all the pressure and how their respective coaches led them to make a great strategy for victory.Oscar and Sofía started playing Tennis at a very young age. He was four years old and she was 5. Oscar wants to become a professional Tennis player with the support of his family. “I like to play tennis because of the greats like: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.” Like Oscar, Sofía idolizes Rafael Nadal; she wants to play just like him.Óscar describes how he felt after winning the tournament. “I felt very anxious and nervous, however I was happy that I won. My family congratulated me and made a celebration in honor of my triumph.” Sofía on the other hand felt really confident and sure about herself while playing the tournament.But not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Oscar mentioned that “We use a very detailed strategy from our coach. The coach told us “keep your head, stay calm, we have enough time”. Using the strategy given by his coach and trusting his partner they made it to the big win in doubles.Sofía followed her coach’s rules in order to make a huge win in doubles “The secret to winning was to change the strategy. First, we were hitting the ball hard and then we switched it up and went soft so we could win and come out in first place.”The dedication and respect Óscar and Sofia have for Tennis is something that they are most proud of, preparing and practicing at a very young age has made an impact on their life. We are proud of you both!-Español-El domingo 3 de abril los estudiantes de 2º, Óscar Álzate y Sofía Gómez tuvieron una actuación victoriosa en el “Festival Infantil 2022 del Club Cañasgordas”. Óscar obtuvo 1er lugar en sencillos y en dobles junto con su compañero Daniel Villegas, mientras que Sofía ganó 3er lugar en sencillos y 1er lugar en dobles con su compañera Luciana Jaramillo. Óscar y Sofía nos contaron cómo manejaron toda la presión y cómo sus respectivos entrenadores los guiaron al triunfo.Óscar y Sofía empezaron a jugar tenis a una edad muy temprana. Él comenzó a la edad de 4 años y ella a la edad de 5 años. Óscar quiere convertirse en un jugador profesional de Tenis con el apoyo de su familia. “Me gusta jugar Tenis por los grandes jugadores como:  Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer y Rafael Nadal.” Como Óscar, Sofía idealiza a Rafael Nadal, ella quiere jugar igual que él.Óscar nos describió cómo se sintió después de ganar el torneo.“Me sentí muy ansioso y nervioso, sin embargo me sentí muy feliz cuando gané. Mi familia me felicitó y me hicieron una celebración en honor a mi triunfo” Por otro lado, Sofía se sintió muy confiada y segura de sí misma mientras competía.Pero no todo es color de rosa. Óscar mencionó que usaron “una estrategia muy detallada por parte de nuestro entrenador. El profesor nos dijo, “cabeza fría, tranquilos, todavía tenemos tiempo” Usando la estrategia pausada de su entrenador y confiando en su compañero de juego obtuvieron la gran victoria en dobles.Sofía siguió las reglas de su entrenador, manejando los ritmos del juego, para obtener una gran victoria en dobles también. “El secreto para ganar fue cambiar la estrategia. Primero, le pegábamos a la pelota duro y luego la golpeábamos suave, para así poder conseguir el triunfo y quedar en primer lugar».La dedicación y el respeto que tienen Óscar y Sofía por el tenis es algo de lo que ellos están más que orgullosos. Practicando y preparándose desde una edad muy temprana ha creado una huella muy importante en sus vidas.
